How did Borussia start the new season. This being their tenth season but was the new look Borussia good enough? See below for the match report.

UNORTHODOX BRU GIVES O.G’S A HANGOVER

ROYAL BORUSSIA              5

(HOWARD, M. COOK, ZULU 2, RUSSELL)

O’ GRADY’S                          2

In their new European triumph kit (for some) Royal Borussia got off to a great start to the new season. Newly promoted O’ Grady’s started well playing some nice patterns without any reward, however their confidence seemed to be rocked by Borussia’s first goal. O’ Grady’s goalkeeper will be very disappointed as Jamie Howard’s free kick from out on the right wing was allowed to bounce in the box and float into the back of net, the first goal scored with this season’s new Borussia football (available in the club shop). A tactical switch from Craig ‘Avram’ Elliott switched Matt Cook to up front withdrawing El Berto to midfield, almost instantly it paid as Cook diverted Russell’s shot home for 2-0. A third goal soon arrived with Bruce ‘Lotion’ Zulu latching onto a cross from the right wing and cracking home a lovely finish. O’ Grady’s grabbed a goal back before half-time with a lovely strike which Fuzzy could do nothing about.

The three goal lead was soon reestablished early in the second half as some lovely passing in the box was finished with aplomb with a clinical finish from Stuart Russell. El Berto was unlucky not to grab the fifth when Matt Cook’s dummy put him through and his stinging effort was somehow pushed onto the bar. O’ Grady’s grabbed a soft second goal from a dubiously given free kick to make it 4-2. The points were effectively wrapped up when Howard’s corner was nodded back by Andrew Cook and Bruce Zulu applied the headed finish for 5-2 to give Borussia a deserved win with their top flight experience really paying off against younger opposition. This was a cracking start to the season especially when you remember how long it took to get a win last season, with some promising debutants starting for Borussia the squad looks improved – let’s hope for no more relegation battles!
